The training year is divided into three training trimesters.
The training period in each training trimester is no less than (13) weeks, inclusive of preparation and ongoing and summative assessment.
Vacations and official holidays are as found in the announced SMP academic calendar.
Trainees shall go through stages during their training. After successful completion of the courses of a trimester, they are promoted to the next in accordance with the transitional policies in the plan of the training program.
A fresh apprentice forfeits his admission in case he does not regularly attend classes within the first three days of the training without a valid excuse approved by the training manager.
An apprentice must be committed to the attendance of all the training credit hours of his training course.
An apprentice gets terminated if he is absent for more than 32 training hours out of a total of 455 hours in one trimester.
An apprentice shall comply with the rules of conduct and attendance. Violators will be issued adequate warnings and be taken the necessary disciplinary measures against for their violation of the code of conduct and the attendance policy.
In the event of frequent absenteeism or a total dropping out during the training program without valid excuses on the apprentice’s part, the hours of absenteeism will be deducted from his monthly stipend by the recruiting company, and the following disciplinary measures will be taken:
The apprentice is issued an initial written warning in case he has been absent from the training program for 8 hours or a working day, and these hours will be deducted from his monthly stipend.
The apprentice is issued a second written warning in case he has been absent from the training program for 16 hours or two working days, and these hours will be deducted from his monthly stipend.
The apprentice is issued a final written warning in case he has been absent from or has dropped out of the training program for 24 hours or three working days, and these hours will be deducted from his monthly stipend.
An administrative decision to terminate the apprentice from the program is issued in the event of his exceeding 32 hours or dropping out of the program.
Rules and regulations of the Saudi Mining Polytechnic must be abided by at all times.
In case a trainee does not comply with the rules and regulations of the Saudi Mining Polytechnic, violations will be reported to the Training Manager to take the necessary punitive action against the violator.
SMP official working hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday through Thursday.
Apprentices will be under direct supervision of their trainers. Therefore, they have to follow their instructions and directions.
Apprentices must keep training classrooms and venues clean and orderly. They should also use the equipment and resources of their classroom, laboratory, and workshop with proper care.
Apprentices should be keen on regular attendance throughout the training trimesters and be punctual. They should always remember to bring their books and classroom stationery items with them to the class.
Attendance is taken on a daily basis.
In case of absenteeism due to sickness, the apprentice has to present an original sick leave report containing the diagnosis of his case to the SMP administration. For an apprentice to complete the training program successfully, he has to achieve an attendance rate of 93%. Apprentices must keep quiet and maintain discipline all through their presence in their training sessions in the classrooms, laboratories, or workshops. Any misbehaviour or violation on the apprentice’s part will not be tolerated. Apprentices must switch off their mobile phones or any other electronic devices while present in classrooms, laboratories, or workshops. If an apprentice uses his phone during a class or workshop, he will be dismissed from class and marked absent. If this violation is repeated, the apprentice will be given a warning for violating the policy of classroom discipline. Wearing hats, caps, or sunglasses is not allowed at any time in class. If an apprentice does not abide by this, he will be dismissed from the classroom and marked absent and will be given a warning for violating the policy of classroom discipline. Apprentices are not allowed to speak too loudly or to act impolitely or disrespectfully inside the institute. If an apprentice does not abide by this, he will be dismissed from the classroom and marked absent. If the violation is repeated, the apprentice will be given a warning for violating the policy of classroom discipline. Apprentices are not allowed to read newspapers or magazines, eat, or drink inside classrooms, laboratories, or workshops.
